Alexandra Tiffin Proprietor/PrincipalAlexandra has worked in the family weaving business for over 25 years. On the factory floor, she learned the art of dyeing and weaving using turn of the century timber shuttle looms. She was also taught the value of keeping customer satisfaction rates high, which she has practiced throughout her career, ensuring customers return for her ideas, advise, technical know-how and ultimately more braid.

Over 90 Years of Weaving History
A successful company is built on the vision of its leader. In RibbonTrim’s case, this vision goes back to 1880 with Italian immigrants Villa & Rossi. Initially selling goods to rural Australians, Dunkerly Hat Mills (now Akubra Hats) approached Mafio Rossi to make the bindings for their hats (instead of importing Borsalino Hats from Italy). Rossi travelled to Intra in Italy to purchase a weaving company, which he brought back to Sydney and set up in McEvoy St, Waterloo. The skilled staff all immigrated to Australia to join Rossi in this venture. It was from these humble beginnings that Hatbands, the founding company of RibbonTrim, emerged and the Rossi weaving tradition began. Hatbands grew to manufacture narrow fabrics for the millinery, fashion, corporate and schoolwear industries.
Theo Rossi, the grandson of both Villa & Rossi, retired in 2003, which saw the closing of the Hatbands factory. Alexandra Tiffin, a fourth generation Rossi, continued the family tradition with RibbonTrim, where quality narrow fabrics are sourced and supplied to customers worldwide.
